Details.
Surgical implantation of an FDA-approved vagus nerve stimulation device under the skin in the upper left chest, followed by in-clinic physical therapy using wireless stimulation while performing specific rehabilitation tasks. At-home therapy can pair rehabilitation exercises and routine activities with magnet-activated stimulation. Intended for chronic ischemic stroke survivors who have completed physical therapy but continue to experience moderate to severe hand and arm impairment. Patients recover for one week after implantation before continuing in-clinic physical therapy. The surgery and rehabilitation are covered through most insurances.
