Suitable for degenerative joint and tendon problems including osteoarthritis, tennis elbow and plantar fasciitis. The appointment includes blood collection, preparation of the PRP, an ultrasound scan and injection, followed by 20 minutes of observation. Patients are advised to stay well hydrated, avoid NSAIDs for 1 week before and 4 weeks after treatment, avoid strenuous exercise for 5 days afterwards, and consider resting for 5 to 7 days. PRP injections are not offered to patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding. A typical treatment programme consists of 3 injections, usually 2 weeks apart.
