Anal and genital warts may be treated with topical creams or surgical therapy. Surgical treatment can be performed in the office with local anesthetic for patients with few lesions, while more extensive disease may require sedation. High resolution anoscopy is used to target lesions and avoid unnecessary trauma to normal tissue. Recurrence is possible, and measures to reduce recurrence are discussed.
