An internal pelvic ultrasound examination performed with your consent, usually immediately following a transabdominal ultrasound assessment. The bladder is emptied beforehand, and a sterilised transvaginal ultrasound transducer covered with a latex sheath and lubricated with gel is gently inserted into the vagina to obtain pelvic images. You may insert the transducer yourself if preferred, have a support person present, and ask the sonographer to modify or stop the examination at any time. Please advise the sonographer of any latex allergy. A small amount of spotting may occur after the examination.
