A pelvic ultrasound examination using a narrow transducer gently placed into the vagina to provide clearer images of some pelvic structures. It is usually performed immediately after a transabdominal ultrasound assessment, with the bladder emptied first. The procedure is performed with the patient's consent, which can be withdrawn at any time. Patients may insert the transducer themselves and may have a support person present. Please advise the sonographer of any latex allergy. Some women may experience minor spotting afterwards.
