A minimally invasive mitral valve replacement option for high surgical risk patients with symptomatic valve deterioration after tissue mitral valve replacement. The procedure may use access through the groin blood vessels or the chest and includes evaluation with cardiac CT and echocardiography, trans-septal valve deployment, close monitoring for one to two days, and a comprehensive echocardiogram within 24 hours after the procedure. Mount Sinai's structural heart team remains in contact with the patient, family, and referring physician during the workup and hospital stay.
