Details.
A less invasive mitral valve repair procedure in which a MitraClip device is implanted through a small incision in the groin to help the mitral valve leaflets coapt and reduce leakage. Patient selection uses sophisticated imaging techniques, including three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography, before and after implantation. Intended for eligible patients with severe degenerative mitral regurgitation who are at high risk for conventional surgery, and for selected patients with significant functional mitral regurgitation who are not candidates for cardiac surgery.
