Details.
A less invasive mitral valve repair procedure for selected patients with severe degenerative mitral regurgitation who are at high risk for conventional heart surgery. The MitraClip is implanted through a small incision in the groin to help the mitral valve leaflets close more effectively. Patient selection and monitoring use sophisticated imaging techniques, including three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography. The procedure typically takes one to three hours and may take longer depending on case complexity.
