A less invasive mitral valve repair procedure in which a MitraClip device is implanted through a small incision in the groin to bring the mitral valve leaflets together. Used for selected patients with severe mitral regurgitation, including patients at high risk for conventional heart surgery. Imaging techniques, including three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography, are used to select candidates and monitor progress after implantation.
