Details.
A less invasive treatment for selected patients with severe mitral regurgitation, performed through a small incision in the groin. The procedure uses a MitraClip device to join the mitral valve leaflets and reduce leakage. Sophisticated imaging techniques, including three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography, are used to assess candidacy and monitor progress. The procedure is intended for patients at high risk for conventional heart surgery.
