Transcatheter Mitral Valve Repair Using MitraClip

at Mount Sinai Doctors · New York

Details.

A less invasive mitral valve repair procedure in which a MitraClip device is implanted through a small incision in the groin to join the mitral valve leaflets and reduce leakage. The procedure is intended for selected patients with severe degenerative mitral regurgitation who are at high risk for conventional heart surgery. Mount Sinai uses advanced imaging techniques, including three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography, to assess candidacy and monitor progress. The procedure typically takes one to three hours, depending on case complexity.
