A less invasive mitral valve repair procedure using a transcatheter-implanted cobalt chromium clip to join the mitral valve leaflets and reduce leakage. It is indicated for selected patients with severe degenerative mitral regurgitation who are at high risk for conventional heart surgery. The procedure is performed through a small incision in the groin and typically takes one to three hours, although complex cases may take longer.
