A less invasive mitral valve repair procedure for eligible patients with severe degenerative mitral regurgitation who are at high risk for conventional heart surgery. The MitraClip is implanted through a small incision in the groin to help the mitral valve leaflets close more effectively. Patient selection uses sophisticated imaging, including three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography, and imaging is used to monitor progress after implantation.
