A minimally invasive treatment for serious aortic valve disease, most commonly severe aortic stenosis. The diseased valve is replaced through a small incision in the leg. It is currently recommended for patients at higher risk from conventional surgery. Most patients stay in hospital for 3 to 5 days, with some able to go home the next day.
