Removal of teeth that are decayed, affected by advanced periodontal disease, broken beyond repair or restoration, poorly positioned or impacted, or being removed to prepare for orthodontic treatment. The surgeon numbs the tooth, jawbone, and surrounding gums with a local anesthetic. Patients may feel pressure as the tooth is rocked to widen the socket. Postoperative instructions and written home care instructions are provided after surgery.
