Details.
Evaluation of temporomandibular disorder includes a review of medical history, teeth, head and neck muscles, and temporomandibular joints. Imaging such as CT scans or MRI may be needed. Treatment may include home exercises, physical rehabilitation, diet modification, behavior changes, dental appliances, and injections. Referred patients should provide their practitioner's name and contact information. Patients should bring prior imaging, lab results, bite appliances, and a medication list with dosages. Non-referred patients should complete the Orofacial Pain Screening Questionnaire before the appointment.
