At-home teeth whitening using custom bleaching trays and dentist-prescribed gel. The dentist takes moulds of the teeth, creates custom trays, and shows you how to load and use them at home. In most cases, the trays and gel are worn overnight for around 2 weeks. Internal and external bleaching may be recommended for very dark yellow or greying teeth, usually following root canal treatment or trauma. Results are not guaranteed, typically last around 1 year, and can be topped up using existing trays and gel. Treatment is only available to patients who have had a new patient examination and are dentally fit.
