For patients with valvular disease or an aortic aneurysm, the consultation may include specialised echocardiography, a cardiac CT scan or cardiac MRI followed on the same day by an expert consultation with a cardiologist and cardiac surgeon. The consultation may lead to annual or six-monthly monitoring for moderate, stable disease, or to an intervention for severe disease with a surgical indication.
