Details.
Botulinum toxin is injected into the gastrocnemius muscle to slim down calf muscles. The procedure affects only a small proportion of the outer muscle fibres and does not restrict normal calf function or negatively affect walking or running. Treatments are initially every 3 months, with maintenance treatments every 9 to 12 months after approximately 3 treatments. Changes become noticeable after the second treatment, and a 2 cm reduction in calf dimensions can be achieved.
