Details.
Dental work carried out while the patient is sedated or under a full general anaesthetic. Sedation is generally performed in the practice by a registered medical practitioner, with regular sessions scheduled. Suitable for potentially traumatic dental procedures and some patients with special needs, including nursing home residents and people with dementia or autism. A Medicare rebate is available for the medical practitioner's treatment. Sedation is not suitable for everyone, and a full general anaesthetic service is available for some patients.
