Shockwave Therapy

at Rebuild Sports Clinic · London

Details.

Non-invasive therapy using audible high energy sound waves applied to a painful region of the body. The treatment may increase blood circulation, stimulate tissue metabolism and allow micro-movement in the treatment region to improve range of movement. It is used for sports injuries, whiplash injuries, lower limb and foot problems, hip, knee and ankle pain, post-operative and surgical rehabilitation, pre and post-natal exercise, tennis and golfer's elbow, patella tendinitis and tendinopathy, Achilles tendinitis and tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, hip bursitis and subacromial tendinopathy. An initial assessment is conducted to determine whether the treatment is appropriate. Weekly sessions may be prescribed by a consultant or physiotherapist. Treatment can cause discomfort during and after the session, with possible short-term symptom aggravation, redness, bruising, pain and discomfort. Patients should contact the clinic if they notice excess bruising, pain or unusual sensations.
