Details.
Specialized care for children whose asthma is hard to control, including children with multiple steroid courses, frequent Emergency Department visits, ineffective treatment, missed school or activities, or asthma hospitalizations. The program includes pulmonologists, allergists, a nurse practitioner, and a specially trained asthma nurse. Allergy skin tests and breathing tests may be performed at the first visit. Pharmacy support is available for approvals for inhalers, injections, and other medicines, and the asthma nurse uses mindfulness and relaxation techniques to help children feel comfortable.
