A well-tolerated procedure using ultrasound and sterile fluid to evaluate the uterus, including the shape of the uterine cavity, endometrial lining, and ovaries. Used to investigate abnormal uterine bleeding, infertility, recurrent miscarriages, congenital uterine abnormalities, polyps, suspected scar tissue, and abnormalities found during routine ultrasound. Mild cramping, spotting, and vaginal discharge may occur. The procedure should not be performed during pregnancy or suspected pregnancy, or with an active pelvic infection.
