It can investigate abnormal uterine bleeding, infertility, recurrent miscarriages, congenital uterine abnormalities, polyps, suspected scar tissue, and abnormalities found during routine ultrasound. The procedure may cause mild cramping, spotting, or vaginal discharge. It should not be performed during pregnancy or suspected pregnancy, or with an active pelvic infection.
