Legal Aid Ontario pays for a lawyer to help eligible people in Ontario with their refugee status application. The lawyer interviews you, advises on information for your Basis of Claim form, checks that the form is complete and accurate, explains it before signing, advises on documents for the hearing, helps you prepare, and attends the hearing with you. You do not pay the lawyer when the work is covered by the certificate.
