Uses high frequency radio waves to excise or vaporise soft tissue skin lesions. Local anaesthetic is injected, and the treatment area is dressed with antibiotic ointment, with a dressing sometimes applied. Apply a little antibiotic ointment for a few days until healing occurs. Shower and wash as usual, avoiding rubbing the treated area. Lesions considered worthy of analysis may be biopsied by a histopathologist. Cardiac pacemakers are an absolute contraindication. Potential side effects include inflammation, scarring, infection, burns, reactions to local anaesthetic or antibiotic ointment, and unsatisfactory appearance.
