Radiofrequency Ablation for Barrett's Esophagus

at A/Prof Darren Pavey · Sydney

Details.

An outpatient endoscopy procedure that uses radiofrequency energy to ablate diseased tissue associated with esophageal dysplasia or Barrett's Esophagus. A catheter delivers the energy to the affected area. Follow-up upper endoscopy is typically performed three months after the procedure to assess for residual Barrett's Esophagus, with re-treatment if required. The procedure may reduce the risk of progression to cancer and help avoid surgery.
