Details.
Treatment for feline hyperthyroidism using an oral I-131 capsule that selectively destroys overactive thyroid tissue. Each dose is tailored to the cat. The treatment requires light sedation, 7 days of hospitalisation in the nuclear medicine ward, followed by two weeks of special care at home. The package includes the admission consultation, sedation, capsule administration, monitoring during sedation, hospitalisation, meals, bedding, regular monitoring, discharge consultation, and evening owner updates. A veterinary referral, relevant medical history, bloodwork since diagnosis, and a recent urine test are required before suitability assessment. Treatment days are scheduled on Tuesdays. Follow-up blood testing with the regular veterinarian is recommended at around 4 weeks after treatment.
