Regular pregnancy care includes check-ups, health and pregnancy monitoring, education, laboratory testing when indicated, physical examinations, telephone contact, and video visits. Care is provided by a team that may include nurse practitioners, physician assistants, certified nurse midwives, obstetricians, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and medical assistants. Visit frequency is generally every 4 to 6 weeks during the first 28 weeks, with more frequent visits later in pregnancy and at least weekly visits near the due date.
