Preimplantation Genetic Screening

at Dr Rachael Knight · Melbourne

Details.

Genetic assessment of embryos in the laboratory to identify abnormalities and help prevent atypical embryos being returned to the uterus. Screening includes preimplantation genetic diagnosis and preimplantation genetic testing, including PGT-A for aneuploidy, PGT-M for monogenic disorders and PGT-SR for structural rearrangements. An IVF cycle is completed to create blastocyst-stage embryos, which are biopsied by a senior embryologist, cryopreserved and tested. Results are received approximately 4 to 6 weeks later, followed by a discussion with Dr Knight or a senior embryologist.
