Porcelain Veneers

at John D. Meola DDS · Boston

Details.

Thin porcelain shells placed over the front surfaces of natural teeth to cover chipped, cracked, misshapen, stained, or mildly misaligned teeth and gaps. The procedure includes an initial consultation, tooth preparation, digital impressions using a 3D scanner, custom fabrication, and bonding with durable dental cement. Veneers require at least two appointments. A small amount of enamel, about 0.5 to 0.7 millimeters, is removed during preparation. High-quality porcelain and zirconia are used instead of resin. Veneers are typically used on front teeth, which must be healthy enough to support them. There is no downtime or recovery, and the average lifespan is 10 years with proper care and maintenance.
