Details.
Custom-made porcelain restorations that cover a larger portion of the tooth, typically including one or more cusps. They are suitable for teeth with extensive decay or damage that is too significant for a filling but does not require a full crown. Onlays preserve more tooth structure than full crowns, are resistant to staining, strengthen the existing tooth structure, and are custom-made for fit and bite. Treatment usually requires two appointments, one for preparation and impressions and a second to fit the onlay. Procedures are performed under local anaesthetic, and mild, temporary sensitivity may occur for a few days after treatment. With proper care, porcelain onlays can last 10 to 15 years or more.
