An office-based eye treatment using a light-sensitive medicine injected into a vein in the arm, followed by eye drops and a cold laser directed through a special contact lens. The laser activates the medicine to destroy abnormal blood vessels and tissue. It may treat wet macular degeneration, central serous chorioretinopathy, ocular histoplasmosis syndrome and myopic degeneration. The laser treatment takes approximately 90 seconds. Arrange transport home, bring sunglasses, long-sleeved clothing and a wide-brimmed hat. Avoid direct sun exposure for a few days afterwards. Temporary blurriness and vision changes may occur immediately after treatment.
