Details.
Non-surgical periodontal therapy that removes dental plaque, tartar, unwanted microorganisms, toxins, cementum, and surface dentin from the crown and root surfaces. The treatment completely cleanses the periodontium and is suitable for individuals with gingivitis or moderate to severe periodontal disease. It is performed after a thorough examination, including X-rays and visual examinations. Local anesthetic may be used depending on gum condition, calculus, pocket depth, and disease progression. Gum pockets may be treated with antibiotics afterward, followed by a later examination to assess healing.
