A minimally invasive procedure performed by a cosmetic doctor or nurse for skin tightening and facial contouring. Mono threads made from polydioxanone are inserted into the subdermal level to promote new collagen production, gradual skin thickening, skin tightening and rejuvenation. Treatable areas include the upper and lower cheeks, lips, smoker's lines, forehead and brows, neck and jawline, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, arms, buttocks, abdomen and breast. Swelling and bruising may occur after treatment, with a lower likelihood of infection. Thread migration may cause an unusual sensation, which generally resolves within 1 to 3 weeks. At least 2 to 3 treatments are required, depending on the desired results. Results may be seen in 6 weeks and continue to improve over 2 to 6 months. Threads dissolve by 6 months, while effects may last up to 12 to 18 months.
