Details.
A painless examination in which the dentist and dental hygienist carefully inspect the oral and maxillofacial regions for pathologic changes, including red patches, sores, leukoplakia, lumps and unusual tissue thickening. The dentist also feels the face, glands and neck for unusual bumps. Lasers may be used to identify changes below the surface. A comprehensive oral cancer screening should be performed at least once each year.
