OptiLight IPL Dry Eye Treatment

at Sophia Siu · New York

Details.

FDA-approved light-based treatment for dry eye disease caused by inflammation and meibomian gland dysfunction. Controlled pulses of broad-spectrum light are applied to the skin beneath the eyes to target inflammation, reduce demodex mites and bacteria along the eyelid margin, stimulate meibomian gland function, and increase tear breakup time. A cooling gel and protective eye shields are used during treatment. The standard protocol consists of four sessions spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart. Patients should avoid skin-brightening agents in the week before treatment, tanning beds for at least one month before, Botox injections for at least three months before, and certain medications including isotretinoin, tetracycline, or doxycycline within three months prior. Sunscreen and sun avoidance are recommended after treatment.
