Details.
A custom-made partial crown made from composite material, gold, or tooth-coloured porcelain, created by a professional dental laboratory and permanently cemented onto the tooth. Onlays can conservatively repair teeth with large defective fillings or damage from decay or trauma, and may be used for broken or fractured teeth, cosmetic enhancement, decayed teeth, fractured fillings, and large fillings. Treatment usually requires two appointments. The first includes accurate impressions, removal of decay or old filling material, tooth preparation, and a temporary filling. At the second appointment, the onlay is cemented in place and adjusted for fit and bite. Care instructions are provided, and good oral hygiene, a proper diet, and regular dental visits help maintain the restoration.
