at Alan S. Rockoff · Brookline

Details.

Surgical treatment for skin cancer and other skin abnormalities. Mohs surgery removes cancer-containing tissue layer by layer until only healthy skin remains. The procedure may include numbing the treatment area, removing tissue for laboratory analysis, repeat removal if cancer remains, and wound treatment with stitches or grafts as needed. Patients should follow preparation instructions, including stopping certain medications or supplements if directed and wearing comfortable clothing. Afterward, keep the area clean, apply medications and bandages as directed, and attend follow-up visits.
