GP support for mental health concerns, including assessment, someone to talk to, and referral to a psychiatrist, psychologist or other counsellor. GPs can also assess eligibility for a Mental Health Care Plan, providing up to 20 Medicare subsidised counselling sessions a year. Support is available for depression, anxiety, stress, post-traumatic stress, grief and loss, domestic violence, sexual abuse, post-natal depression, social phobia, relationship and family issues, pain management, sleep problems, eating disorders, drug and alcohol problems, workplace injuries and TAC approved treatment.
