An endovenous treatment for varicose veins combining mechanical and chemical techniques. A rotating wire damages the vein wall while sclerosant is delivered to achieve permanent closure. The procedure is performed under ultrasound guidance using a small catheter, without open surgery or local anaesthetic along the length of the vein. It may suit patients wishing to avoid multiple local anaesthetic injections, including those with veins close to nerves or lower in the leg. Patients with very large veins, multiple veins requiring extensive treatment, or known sclerosant allergies may not be suitable.
