Combined low-level light therapy and optimal power energy intense pulsed light treatment for meibomian gland dysfunction and consequent evaporative dry eye. Covers a course of up to four treatment sessions. Treatments are typically performed five to ten days apart, with the full effect sometimes taking several weeks after the final treatment. Basic dry eye remedies are recommended before and after treatment. Avoid sun, solar lamps and self-tanning products for 15 to 20 days before and after treatment, remove contact lenses during treatment, and avoid chemical, physical or enzymatic peels during the treatment period. Contraindicated by pregnancy, epilepsy, herpetic disease, metallic piercings near the treatment area, photosensitising drugs, or known photosensitivity to red or yellow light.
