A non-surgical treatment using deoxycholic acid and phosphatidylcholine injections into fatty tissue, commonly for submental adiposity or double chin that is resistant to diet and exercise. The treatment causes fat cells to dissolve, with remaining cellular material reabsorbed or metabolised by the body, followed by skin tightening. Temporary side effects may include pain, bruising, numbness, tenderness, small nodules, redness and swelling. Noticeable results may appear within 2 weeks, with full effects generally visible about a month after the procedure. Usually 1 to 2 sessions, sometimes more, are required every 4 to 6 weeks depending on treatment response.
