Uses Q-switched or picosecond lasers to break tattoo ink into microscopic particles, which the body gradually clears through the lymphatic system. Can remove an unwanted tattoo or reduce its intensity to help with a cover-up. Multiple treatments are required, usually 8 to 12, depending on the tattoo's placement, ink colours, pigment depth and skin colour. When performed correctly, the treatment is unlikely to cause scarring.
