Kyphoplasty

at Alleviate Institute of Spine and Pain · Los Angeles

Details.

A minimally invasive surgical procedure for damaged vertebrae and compression fractures. The procedure uses a balloon to restore the vertebra's shape and size, followed by injection of bone cement to strengthen the spine. Preparation includes a physical examination, diagnostic imaging, an IV for anesthesia, anti-nausea medication and antibiotics, and local anesthetic. Recovery includes observation, movement as anesthesia wears off, and personalized guidance on physical activity and post-surgery pain management. Typically suitable for patients with osteoporosis or bone weakening caused by cancer treatments. Not intended for preventive purposes or for herniated discs, arthritis or scoliosis.
