Orthodontic expansion or widening of the jaws for children up to 15 years of age. Treatment may use a removable appliance or an expander glued in place, commonly between ages 8 and 12, to correct a narrow upper jaw, crossbite or mild crowding. Includes an upper jaw dental impression, a custom fitted expander appliance with a midline expansion screw, fitting of the appliance and instructions for turning the screw. Expanders are usually worn for 6 to 12 months.
