A minimally invasive Schlemm's canal-based glaucoma surgery procedure that uses a microcatheter to dilate the canal and inject sterile viscous gel, aiming to increase fluid outflow. It is generally preferable for patients with open-angle glaucoma, including pseudoexfoliative and pigmentary glaucoma, and may be performed at the time of cataract surgery. It involves a small incision, does not place an implant in the eye, and may be suitable for people intolerant of glaucoma medications, having difficulty taking drops, with a history of failed selective laser trabeculoplasty, or unable to commit to regular follow-up treatments. When combined with cataract surgery, it takes 30 to 40 minutes and is performed as a day procedure under anaesthetic. Eye drops are prescribed after surgery.
