Details.
Prepared sperm is placed directly into the womb around the time of ovulation. IUI bypasses the cervix and increases the number of sperm reaching the fallopian tubes. It may be recommended for couples experiencing difficulty with intercourse, use of donor sperm, same-sex female couples, or mild male factor infertility. IUI can be performed in a natural cycle or alongside ovulation induction. Treatment is quick and minimally invasive, and most women experience little to no discomfort.
