Interspinous Process Decompression

at Musto Josephine D FNP · New York City

Details.

A minimally invasive outpatient surgical procedure in which a titanium alloy X-STOP implant is inserted between the spinous processes under local anesthesia and sedation. The implant maintains the space between the spinous processes, helping relieve nerve pressure, lower back pain, and radiating leg discomfort. Preoperative preparation may include discussing health conditions and medications, cleansing the surgical site, reviewing postoperative care, and consulting with an anesthesiologist. Most patients are discharged the following day, with follow-up typically scheduled approximately 10 days to two weeks after surgery.
