A fertility treatment involving ovarian stimulation to produce multiple eggs, egg retrieval under light sedation, fertilisation with sperm in a laboratory, embryo development and transfer to the uterus. The process includes blood tests and ultrasounds, with a pregnancy blood test around 10 days after embryo transfer. IVF may suit people experiencing unexplained infertility, blocked fallopian tubes, male factor infertility, endometriosis or age-related fertility decline, as well as single women and same-sex couples using donor sperm or eggs.
